The Other Side of Consistency:

Hello beautiful people, how have you been?

Busy—I’m sure. This year seems to have put on roller skates, and for many of us, it feels like we’re just holding on, trying to find our balance as each day comes.

But truly… how are you doing?

I see the effort. The showing up. The trying—even on the heavy days and I want to take a moment to acknowledge that.

Well done. It’s not always easy, but you’re still here. Still pushing forward.

Now that we’re in the second quarter of the year, this feels like a good time to pause and check in—with ourselves, our progress, and our hearts.

So I’ll ask again: how are you really doing?

I’m rooting for you. I truly am. And I want to encourage you—keep going. Even if it’s slow. Even if it’s messy. Even if it doesn’t look like what you imagined.

And for those who feel like things are aligning, who are in their harvest season,—who are winning, hurray to that. I celebrate you. Truly. 🥳

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on consistency—what it really means, how it feels, and the parts we don’t often talk about. So I thought I’d share a few thoughts.

Let’s dig in 😊

The Advice We Always Hear

“Just keep showing up.”
“Keep going.”
“Never give up.”
“Rome wasn’t built in a day.”

We hear these or similar phrases more often than not. They give us the push we need to start, to commit, to take that first step. So we do. We show up. We push through resistance. We stay disciplined, and sometimes, the results come sooner than expected. 🎉

When the Results Don’t Come

But other times… they don’t. A month passes—or even a year. Then another. Then another. You’re still showing up. Still giving your energy, your time, your belief. Yet the tunnel feels endless—and the light? Nowhere in sight.

Showing up without results can feel exhausting. It’s frustrating. It makes you question everything. I’ll share this verse to encourage those going through this:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9

And yet… if we’re honest, weariness still comes.

The Moment of Truth: Pause or Persist?
Learning to Discern When to Hold On and When to Let Go

What do you then do when you’ve given it your all and the effort still isn’t yielding results? This is where real reflection begins. Sometimes you need to go back to the drawing board—restrategise, adjust your approach, or even choose a new direction.

But other times?

You simply need to keep going. If, after honest reflection, you’re still convinced you’re on the right path, then your task is to keep showing up. It’s not easy—but it matters.

Remember this, life answers to what you fight for… what you refuse to let go of. Not what you wish for quietly, or hope for once and forget—but what you return to, again and again, even when it’s hard, even when it’s unclear.

What you consistently show up for has a way of shaping what eventually shows up for you. As it says in Hebrews 10:36 “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Sometimes the journey takes longer than we hoped—but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Much of what you’re building is taking shape beneath the surface, in ways you can’t yet see.

In time, things begin to align. The effort you’ve given and the prayers you’ve carried are not wasted. What you’ve been working toward often unfolds gradually—until one day, you begin to recognise that something has shifted, and the results you longed for are finally taking form.

This brings us to discernment—one of the most important forms of wisdom a person can develop. For people of faith, this is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Discernment: Knowing When to Stay and When to Shift

Discernment is about knowing the difference, and it isn’t always easy. This is where prayer becomes essential.

Discernment separates persistence from stubbornness. It calls you to honestly assess whether your results are off because of your approach, or because you’re heading in the wrong direction? Look for patterns, not just isolated moments. Are there small signs of progress, or are you encountering the same dead ends despite making adjustments?

Real persistence comes from believing in what you’re doing and feeling it’s right for you. But when it might be time to change, you’ll often feel repeated struggle or a sense that something just isn’t working. Over time, reflection and prayer may not give instant answers, but they build clarity. Not always loud or obvious—but steady. A growing sense of peace about whether to stay the course or change direction.

And that is discernment—not just knowing what to do, but having the wisdom and peace to choose it.

What Consistency Really Does

When Consistency Feels Like It’s Not Working

Consistency is often the difference between failure and success—but progress isn’t always smooth, and results can take time. Sometimes, consistency refines you before it rewards you.

I remember when we started the podcast—I was terrified. On that first day, I trembled on the way to the shoot. I felt exposed, out of my element, and close to turning back. If you watch the first few episodes, you’ll see it. I was stiff. Uncomfortable. Unsure.

I had always been more comfortable behind my pad, not in front of the camera. But deep down, I knew this step was necessary for my growth. So I kept showing up—afraid, unsure, but present.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

Zechariah 4:10

I was also fortunate to work with someone patient and kind—someone who guided me with steady encouragement. That experience really highlighted the value of collaboration, but that’s a topic for another day—maybe my next blog 🤔.

For now, I can say this: today, I’m better. Not perfect—but more confident, more comfortable, and more myself.

That’s what consistency does. It stretches you. It shapes you. It transforms you.

Comfort Won’t Grow You

Consistency leads to growth when you’re moving in the right direction and willing to adjust along the way. It’s not blind repetition—it’s showing up, learning, and improving each time.

And as you grow, you start to realise that progress requires change. What once felt comfortable can begin to feel limiting because growth asks more of you. It pushes you to adapt. In the end, growth and comfort rarely coexist—leaving your comfort zone isn’t optional, it’s necessary.

Comfort is… comfortable, too comfortable, and when we stay there, nothing shifts. Growth demands that we stretch. That we take risks. That we step into the unfamiliar.

That’s why this reminder is important:

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” —

2 Timothy 1:7

You are not meant to be led by fear, but by courage, clarity, and strength. So take the step. Trust the process. Growth is waiting on the other side of what feels uncomfortable.

Consistency: The Quiet Force Behind Confidence
How steady practice turns uncertainty into ease

Think back to when you first learned how to drive. It felt overwhelming. Your hands gripped the wheel tightly, and you were hyper-aware of every movement—every mirror check, every turn, every decision. Now? You drive with ease. Sometimes with one hand. Sometimes almost without thinking.

So, what changed? Consistency.

You kept showing up. You practiced, even when it felt uncomfortable. What was once unfamiliar became routine, and over time, that routine became confidence. It wasn’t one perfect drive that made the difference—it was the accumulation of many small, consistent efforts.

“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance…”

Proverbs 21:5

That’s how it works in life. Growth rarely comes from occasional bursts of effort, but from steady, faithful consistency. When you commit to showing up—even when progress feels slow—you build something deeper than skill. You build trust in yourself.

And eventually, what once felt difficult begins to feel natural.

Don’t Lose Yourself in the Process

But here’s the part we don’t say enough: Consistency shouldn’t cost you your clarity, your energy, or your sense of self.

Sometimes strength looks like continuing and sometimes, it looks like pausing and reassessing. Is this still aligned with who you’re becoming? Is the method right, even if the goal is? Are you growing—or just enduring?

Consistency helps you grow, but awareness makes sure you’re growing in the right direction.

A Little Word from Aunty Lulu 💛

Life is not only about how long you can endure—it’s about how wisely you move.

Yes, be consistent. Yes, be disciplined. But don’t carry suffering like it’s a badge of honour. Not everything that is hard is meant for you, and not everything that takes time is wrong.

Sometimes you need to push. Other times, you need to pause and sometimes-you need to change direction completely. That’s where awareness matters. That’s where discernment comes in.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Proverbs 3:5–6

Keep showing up. Keep doing your best. Stay committed. But don’t ignore what you feel—that quiet voice within, pay attention to your growth.

Consistency will improve your results, but awareness will shape your life.

So move forward with both—effort and wisdom. Hold on to your faith, Trust the process and trust that, in time, clarity will come.

You’re doing better than you think. Keep going. 💛

Go forward—and do it wisely. 💛
