Christmas season is here again. The Christmas street lights have been turned on.
The boys and I missed the official street lighting for our area because we had swimming lessons. Most councils and Boroughs in the Uk light their streets on the same day, it was done on Friday the 15th. Some people also put out their house decorations on that day. Suffice to say, everywhere is ‘Lit’ right now 🎄.
The Christmas fayres and markets have started popping up, Christmas songs now playing in stores and on the radio. I drove past Hyde Park a few days ago and could see them putting up all the rides for ‘winter wonderland’. Pantomimes, Carols, Christmas productions… There’s a lot going on and so much to do.
I’ll put down a few of my favourite Christmas events, please feel free to share yours with us especially if you have some really cool events in your local area…
Christmas Wonderland @ Hyde Park:
This event opens every day (except on Christmas day) from Nov 22nd till 6th January 2019. There’s the Santa’s Grotto, rides, attractions and this year, they’re adding a few new attractions like the Magical Ice Kingdom’s, ‘Secret Forest’, Teletubbies Christmas show, Peter Pan on ice etc. I always enjoy visiting the wonderland with my family, please note that “the more, the merrier’. So plan to go with friends and family.
Legoland @ Christmas
Legoland is fun for younger kids, and personally, I l😍ve visiting Legoland at Christmas. The Christmas lights, snow-dusted pine trees, brilliant lego magic. I prefer the Santa experience at Legoland to any we have visited. The elves walk you on a long pine path to Santa’s Cabin, everything is almost believable! Also, the queues are not too long this period or could be we were just lucky on the day we visited 🤔.
Ruxley Manor Grotto
If you live around Sidcup, or even if not, a visit to the Ruxley Manor Grotto is worth a train or long car journey. You are welcomed by Elves and Mother Christmas who guide you through the enchanting Christmas experience. From snowball games, elf’s hat decoration, reindeer to meeting Father Christmas… It’s all magical and enchanting. But note that it’s always fully booked. Booking opens sometime in September or October yes, it’s that popular!
Christmas Pantomimes
Pantomime is a type of musical comedy stage production for family entertainment. It’s very popular during Christmas and New Year season. It includes music, dancing, comedy, and gags. Children find them interesting because they encourage audience participation. There are good ones all over the place, check your nearest theatre and am sure they’ll have a good one. The popular ones include Cinderella, Snow white, Alladin, etc.
You can also catch Santa at your local shopping centre as most shopping centres now have their own Christmas festivities and Santas Grotto. Also look out for your local Christmas Markets and Fayres. You actually get some amazing buys and of course good street food.
My birthday falls within the season, and am already planning to see ‘Motown The Musical’ with a few friends. The ever-popular ‘Lion King’, ‘Stick Man’ … So many wonderful shows to catch at the theatre.
There’s so much to do and see, so count your blessings of this year and put your cheerful spirit on 😋 because ‘Tis The Season To Be Jolly’ 💃💃💃
How’re you cheering 🤩
