Bridal Couture, But Make It Fashion!

My palms have been itching to write a fashion blog for a while now, but I just haven’t seen an event where the fashion struck me enough to put in all the work I usually do for a fashion blog.

Well… until Folagade’s premiere of his new movie, A Mama Deola’s Wedding Story.

So, what was it about this premiere that made me dust off my fashion-writing hat and decide, “Yep, this one is worth writing about”?

Three things:

1. I’m a big fan of Mama Deola.
His skits are not only entertaining, they can be surprisingly emotional and, most importantly, very relatable. There’s something about the way he tells his stories that keeps you watching.

2. I love love! ❤️
And a wedding story? Please! That is already a winning formula for me. Even when the script is questionable, you’re almost guaranteed a few “Awww!” 😍 moments. Add beautiful clothes and a Naija Owambe to the mix and I’m seated!

3. The theme caught my attention — BRIDAL COUTURE. 👰🏾‍♀️✨

Now, that was the real hook for me.

A movie premiere with a bridal couture theme? I immediately wanted to see what everyone would do with it. Would they interpret it literally? Would we get full-on bridal looks? Would guests take the theme and give it a fashion-forward twist?

And, of course, the big question…

Did they understand the assignment? 👀

Well, let’s get into it!

By the way, someone please check on Ayra Starr because her throat must be on fire! 😂 The number of times I heard her Heaven song on the posts cannot be counted. I love the song too, so I really can’t blame them. 😂

So, let’s get into the looks! There were ethereal looks, avant-garde moments, playful interpretations, sensual numbers and, of course, our men keeping things dapper and cool.

Let’s just get into it! 😁

I think we ought to start by giving honour to whom honour is due, and in this case, that honour goes to Abiri Tobi.

Who’s that? You may be wondering.

Well, that’s his real name — AKA Folagade Banks, and more popularly known and loved as Mama Deola. 😁

I am convinced that an older Yoruba mum must be living somewhere inside this young man because how else does he come up with those incredibly relatable skits?! 😂 He makes me laugh so much, and my siblings and I simply cannot get over Mama Deola and her antics.

Beyond the laughs, though, I am genuinely very happy to see his success in the creative industry. Seeing the amount of attention his first foray into the Nigerian film industry has garnered, I have a feeling this young man is in for a long and successful ride — and I wish him nothing but the very best.

Now, when it comes to the fashion… 👀

I’m afraid I’m not quite as enthusiastic. 😂 His fashion choices are generally not to my palate, and this particular looks haven’t exactly converted me either.

BUT!

It is his day. His film. His premiere, So, we’ll let him have this one. 😂. Well done, Shine Shine Bobo! ✨

The flowers have been duly given, the fashion has been respectfully side-eyed, and I genuinely cannot wait to see the film. ❤️

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Shaffy Bello in Becca Needles & Stitches

My oh my! 😍

Aunty Shaffy looks absolutely divine in this structured outfit. The silhouette, the fit, the drama — everything is doing exactly what it needs to do! What makes this look even more interesting for me, though, is the styling.

I love that she opted for a playful hairstyle. It adds an element of fun to the look and, more importantly, stops it from feeling too bridal.

Yes, the theme says “Wedding Couture,” but this is still a movie premiere, not an actual wedding — nobody is asking you to say “I do!” 😂 And I think the styling cleverly reminds us of that.

It gives us bridal couture without giving us bride.

And THAT, for me, is how you interpret a theme rather than simply dress as the theme. 👏🏾

Beautifully done, Aunty Shaffy.

10/10 from me! ❤️❤️❤️

Veekee James in Veekee James

Now, apparently Veekee came up with the theme — perks of being a friend of the producer, I suppose! 😂 And considering that she is one of the names synonymous with bridal couture, we could only expect her to come correct.

And come correct she did! 👏🏾 The beadwork, the volume, the slit — beautiful!

Now, you know I’m not particularly fond of ball gowns, but I actually really like the volume on this one. It’s dramatic without completely swallowing her up, and that slit breaks up all that fabric and adds a playful, slightly sensual edge to the look.

My only reservation is the bustier.

For me, it’s just a little too much — or perhaps, too little 😂. It draws so much attention to the bosom that it almost tips the look into vulgar territory for me. I would have preferred something a little more subtle at the bust, allowing the incredible beadwork and silhouette to do the talking.

That aside, this is a beautiful look and certainly worthy of the woman who helped come up with the theme.

Aunty Lulu says: 8.5/10. ✨

Not quite perfection for me, but Veekee definitely came bearing couture! 👰🏾‍♀️

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Teminikan in Myde Clothing

I love to call her Sisi Eko, because honestly, that’s what comes to mind whenever I see this young lady. There’s just something effortlessly Lagos-girl chic about her. 😍

For me, Teminikan is always a favourite on the red carpet. She knows what works for her, wears clothes beautifully and, once again, she nailed it!

Is this a little too bridal for a movie premiere? Perhaps. 👀

But hey, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to the theme verbatim! 😂 The assignment said Bridal Couture and Sisi Eko said, “Say no more!” 👰🏾‍♀️

It’s elegant, beautifully put together and she looks gorgeous.

No long talk from Aunty Lulu — 10/10! ❤️❤️❤️

Omowunmi Dada in Somo by Somo

Another favourite of mine on the red carpet! 😍

I always look forward to seeing Omowunmi Dada because she hardly ever disappoints. This is one woman who understands red-carpet etiquette better than a lot of our celebrities, and she has shown us that fashion intelligence once again with this beautiful halter-neck dress.

And please, I had to include the back view because you need to see it to fully understand just how stunning this dress is! 🔥

This, for me, is how you take a theme and make it your own. She gives us Bridal Couture, but she also gives us premiere. Nothing feels costume-y or like she accidentally wandered away from her own wedding reception. 😂

Fantastic interpretation.
Fantastic styling.
Beautiful woman.

9.5/10 for you, my gal! ❤️✨

Jemima Osunde in Komeh Swish

I admit, I may have deliberately grouped some of my favourite red-carpet girlies from this event together. 😁 What can I say? I have my favourites!

And Jemima Osunde is definitely one of them.

Jemima always gives us that classy, chic and effortless look whenever we see her on the red carpet, and she’s done it again here.

This looks like a bride who has changed out of the big ceremony gown and is ready to make her entrance at the reception in her fabulous second look. 💃🏾✨

It’s elegant, it’s feminine, it fits the theme and, most importantly, it still feels very Jemima.

Do I love it? Absolutely. Is it blowing me completely away? Not quite — hence I’m keeping a little something in my pocket. 😂

8.5/10 from me. ❤️✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Osas Ighodaro in Veekee James

Of course Osas will take over the red carpet.

Of course Osas will be wearing Veekee James.

Of course there will be an elaborate photoshoot. 😂

What did I miss? 🤔

Osas Osased on the red carpet! 🔥

The body is tea-ing, everything is sitting where it should be sitting, everything is aligned, and she looks absolutely stunning. But then again… when does Osas not look stunning? And perhaps that’s my problem with this look.

It’s beautiful. It’s glamorous. It fits her like a glove. The woman is serving BODY — but it all feels a little too predictable for me. I know, I know… Aunty Lulu, what exactly do you people want? 😂

But when you consistently set the bar as high as Osas does, I want to be surprised. I want to see something and think, “Ah! Osas, where did THIS come from?”

This time, I looked and thought, “Yep. Osas. Veekee. Snatched. Gorgeous. Next.” 😂

Nothing is wrong with the look — I’m just a little bored. 🤷🏾‍♀️

8.5/10. ❤️

Adeola Adeyemi — Diiadem in Sima Brew

Deola looks like a bride ready to walk down the aisle — literally! 👰🏾‍♀️

In fact, this picture is so perfect it could almost pass for AI. 😂 Although, with the level of editing and wizardry these photographers give us these days, who knows where reality ends and magic begins? 🤷🏾‍♀️

Now, I would like to believe that the full look was mainly for the content, because please… IT IS A LOT! 😂

Those big white frilly add-ons almost look like clouds floating around her. ☁️ I can see the vision, I can appreciate the drama… I just don’t particularly like them. For me, there’s already enough going on without them.

That said, Deola looks good — but then again, she usually does. The woman knows how to serve a look.

My only issue is that, much like Osas, this feels quite predictable. Beautiful? Absolutely. Immaculately executed? Yes. But did it give me that little fashion jolt I’m looking for? Not quite.

Still, she came as a BRIDE bride, and on a Bridal Couture carpet, nobody can accuse her of not understanding the assignment! 😂

8.5/10 from me. ✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Prudent Gabriel Peterson in Prudential Atelier

Prudent always serves modesty in such a stylish way, and I really love how she interprets fashion within that space. Well… usually. 👀😂

I’m afraid I’m just not feeling this look.

Let’s start with the headpiece. I think something a little more quaint and delicate would have worked beautifully — or, honestly, no headpiece at all. This particular one is giving me those baby bonnets from the ’70s, and I don’t find it particularly flattering. 🙈

The dress itself is clean and beautifully executed, but please forgive me, because once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it…You know those bridal-shower games where everyone has to make a wedding dress out of toilet paper? 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

There. I said it.

And now that I’ve said it, you probably can’t unsee it either. Sorry! 😂

I love Prudent, and I generally enjoy her approach to modest fashion, but this is just not giving what it should be giving for me. Not terrible by any means, but certainly not one of my favourites from her.

7/10. ❤️

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Hilda Baci in Pearl Bridal

Another rather predictable look for me. Hilda will give you bombshell — every single time! 🔥 The body will body, the glam will glam, and everything will be sitting exactly where it needs to sit. 😂

Does she look good? Absolutely.
Am I surprised? Not even slightly. 🤷🏾‍♀️

It’s beautiful, sexy and very Hilda, but I would love to see her switch things up occasionally and give us something we’re not expecting.Still, you can’t really fault a woman for knowing what works for her and working it!

8.5/10. ❤️

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Blessing Obasi Nze in Ohlanna Bu Zikora

I love Blessing — she just comes across as such a likeable character. ❤️. Fashion-wise though… hmmmm. 👀😂

The dress itself is actually not bad at all. I like the overall idea and she looks cute in it, but those exaggerated high shoulders are where she loses me.

They’re simply not flattering on her. In fact, I think without all that extra drama around the shoulders, I would have appreciated this look so much more. Sometimes, a design detail is meant to elevate a dress but ends up distracting from the woman wearing it — and that’s what I think happened here.

Apart from that, she looks lovely.

Cute, but those shoulders need to come down small. 😂

8/10 from me. ❤️

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Simi Olusanya Dapson in Bbiee

Simi delivers yet another very bridal look — this one could quite comfortably make its way from the premiere straight down the aisle. 👰🏾‍♀️✨. I really like the lace, though. It’s delicate, feminine and gives the dress that romantic bridal feel without needing too much extra drama.

But can we talk about the picture for a minute? 👀

This image reiterates what I said earlier about the over-processing of some of these celebrity photos. Simi is a recognisable face, yet I almost couldn’t recognise her here! 😩. I understand retouching — we all want the picture to picture 😂 — but surely the goal is still to look like yourself when the editing is finished?

Back to the fashion: pretty dress, beautiful lace and definitely on theme. Nothing particularly groundbreaking for me, but a lovely look nonetheless.

8/10. ❤️

Uche Ogbodo in Steph Craft

Yawns… 🥱. I’m terribly bored.

Another fitted mermaid bridal look. Pretty? Yes. On theme? Absolutely. But have we seen this silhouette a thousand and one times before? Also yes. 😩

Uche looks good, but there’s nothing here that feels fresh or particularly exciting to me.

At this point, I’m begging somebody to surprise me! 😂

8/10.

Bukola Rufai in Mega Prisca

Bukola looks lovely. ❤️. Yes, we have yet another mermaid silhouette — clearly the unofficial uniform of the evening 😂 — but this is beautifully done and she wears it well.

It’s feminine, flattering and perfectly in keeping with the Bridal Couture theme. Nothing particularly unexpected, but sometimes a pretty dress is simply a pretty dress, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Lovely lady, lovely look. 8/10. ✨

Layinka in Annie O Couture

Oh, I like this. I really like this! 😍

You know I’m a sucker for a delicate lace, and this one is beautiful. There’s something so feminine and elegant about it without trying too hard.

And the way the dress sits on her? Gorgeous! 👌🏾 It fits beautifully, flatters her figure and allows the intricacy of the lace to do all the talking. No unnecessary drama, no fighting with the dress — just a woman wearing a beautiful gown beautifully.

I love it. 9/10! ❤️✨

Mercy Aigbe in Inem Couture

Mercy, Mercy… wharrapen? 😩😂

I’m afraid this one is quite messy for me.

Mercy is a very stylish woman and someone I usually look forward to seeing because she knows how to deliver a look. But this? No, ma’am. It’s just not working for me.

There seems to be a lot going on, yet somehow the overall effect still feels washed out. Nothing is really jumping out and saying fashion moment! Instead, the look feels a little lost.

And because I know what Mercy is capable of, perhaps I’m judging her a little harder. 👀

But never mind, we know our girl — Mercy will be back! 😂 One fashion miss does not erase a fabulous red-carpet résumé.

For this one, though…

7/10. ❤️

Kate Henshaw in Medlin Couture

Aunty Kate looks good — but I’m not overly impressed.

And perhaps that’s because Kate Henshaw is a very stylish woman, so naturally, I expect a little more from her. I wanted something fun, something unexpected, something that played with the Bridal Couture theme rather than taking the obvious route.

Imagine Aunty Kate giving us a fabulous civil wedding look — chic tailoring, a gorgeous hat perhaps — or even an elevated wedding-guest interpretation. Now that would have been fun! 😍

Instead, we got this.

Is it bad? Not at all. She looks lovely. But when it’s Kate Henshaw, I want a little oomph!

Still, I’ll make do. 😂

8/10. ❤️

Toyin Abraham in Douzn Grace Collection

It’s our Oversabi Aunty in the house, and we always love to see her! 😂❤️

Now, Toyin has had a bit of an on-again, off-again relationship with fashion over the years, but I’m very happy to announce that, on this occasion, the relationship is firmly ON AGAIN! 😂👏🏾

Toyin looks so refreshing here.

I particularly love the modest interpretation of the theme. It’s elegant, sophisticated and proof that you don’t necessarily have to show a lot of skin or bring excessive drama to make an impact on the red carpet.

Everything works beautifully together, and more importantly, she looks comfortable and confident in it.

Oversabi Aunty came, saw and understood the assignment. 😍

I really like this. 9.5/10! ❤️✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Simi Drey in Ovem

Simi looks bridal. 👰🏾‍♀️

She understood the theme, the dress is pretty and she looks lovely… but that’s about it for me. Nothing particularly exciting, nothing unexpected, nothing that made me stop scrolling and take another look.

At this point in the evening, “bridal” alone is no longer enough — give me something! 😂

7/10.

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Idia Aisien in Lipex Stitches

Another mermaid look… at this point, I’ve lost count. 😂

Nothing particularly new or groundbreaking here, but I have to say, I really like the headpiece. It adds interest and gives the look that little something extra it desperately needed.

Idia looks beautiful, as expected, and the overall look is polished and on theme.

Have we seen it before? Yes.
Does she still look good? Also yes. 😁

8.5/10. ✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Damilola Oni in Alake Atelier

Damilola looks good here, but I have to say — this is a very flattering angle.

The front view told a slightly different story for me. 👀

I wasn’t a fan of the way the bodice was cut and styled around the bust. There was simply too much exposure, and rather than looking sensual and sophisticated, it tipped into slightly lewd territory for me.

And you know my rule — sensual, yes; vulgar, no.

With a little more coverage or a better-structured bodice, I think this could have been a completely different look.

Unfortunately, that detail really affected the overall outfit for me.

4/10.

Bukolami Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie) in Accost Collection

I like KieKie’s look. The cut of the dress is beautiful and it sits really nicely on her. There’s enough interest in the silhouette without it feeling overdone. But please… can we do away with the bouquet? 😩😂

Yes, the theme is Bridal Couture, but we are still at a movie premiere, not waiting for the officiating minister to ask, “Who gives this woman away?” 😂

And here we have yet another example of what I mentioned earlier about over-editing. I almost didn’t recognise KieKie! These pictures are becoming so polished that sometimes I have to look twice to figure out who I’m actually looking at.

That aside, she looks good, the dress works and I like the overall look.

8/10. ✨

Mojibade Sosanya in Sarabell Couture

Moji was one of the hosts of the night, so I must admit, I expected something a little more chic and striking from her.

Maybe I’m over-stretching here, but I actually think this look might have worked better without the fascinator. There’s already enough happening with the dress, and for me, the headpiece doesn’t really add anything to the overall look.

I’ve seen Moji in sleeker, more sophisticated looks, and I think something along those lines would have worked beautifully for her tonight — especially in her role as host.

Perhaps a cleaner silhouette, less fuss and a little more “I’m running this show tonight!” energy. 😁

That said, she still looks good. It’s just not quite the fashion moment I wanted from her.

7/10. ✨

Adebimpe Oyebade-Adedimeji (Mo Bimpe) in Julyet Peters

Now it’s getting interesting! 😍

I was beginning to fall asleep from all the mermaidy bridal silhouettes, and then Mo Bimpe came along and woke me right up! 😂👏🏾

Give me a clean civil wedding look any day. Now make it fun and flirty — which is exactly what the length of this dress does — and suddenly, we are red-carpet ready!

This is what I mean by interpreting a theme. You don’t necessarily have to arrive looking like you’re about to walk down the aisle. Take the idea, have some fun with it and remember where you’re actually going.

It’s clean, youthful, appropriate and very cute.

Thank you, Mo Bimpe, for giving my eyes something different! 😂

9/10. ❤️✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Phyna in T.E Women

Yassss! Now we’re talking! 👏🏾😍

Another clever interpretation of the theme — nice, flirty and, most importantly, interesting! Lace, pearls… awwwwh! ❤️ I like! This is exactly what I’ve been asking for: take the Bridal Couture theme, have some fun with it and give us something other than another mermaid gown.

The styling, however, isn’t quite 100% for me. I would have gone with a different pair of shoes, and please, lose the headpiece.

And that bouquet?

Toss your bouquet, girl! 💐😂

You don’t actually have to marry anybody tonight!

A few styling tweaks and I think this could have been even better, but all in all, it’s a fun, refreshing and interesting look.

8.5/10. ❤️✨

Chef T in Sarabell Couture

Chef T looks divine in this short lace dress. 😍. It’s pretty, fresh and feminine, and I love the shorter length — another welcome break from all the dramatic bridal gowns we’ve seen.

But can I also give some flowers to the photography? 👏🏾

I absolutely love that these pictures were taken outside rather than in a studio. After all the heavily edited, ultra-polished studio images we’ve seen, this feels like such a breath of fresh air! Natural setting, pretty dress, beautiful woman — sometimes we really don’t need all the extra drama.

I like it!

8/10. ❤️✨

Nana Akua Addo in Niovo Official

Now I’m dancing! 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾. Can I just end the post here? Because I have FINALLY found the je ne sais quoi I’ve been looking for all night! 😩👏🏾

Nana, is fashion all you think, breathe and do? Because, girl… BACK TO BACK! . It must be exhausting being this committed to serving us fashion. 😂

This is easily my favourite look of the night.

And THIS is what I mean when I talk about interpreting a theme. Bridal Couture doesn’t necessarily mean you have to turn up looking like the bride. The interpretation should still be relatable to the event — and let us remember, people, this was a movie premiere!

Nana understood that perfectly. She came as a guest.

Not the bride.
Not the bridesmaid.
Not the mother of the bride.

Just one drop-dead gorgeous, fabulously dressed wedding guest who understood exactly where she was going. 💃🏾🔥

The drama, the fashion, the styling — THIS is what I’ve been waiting for! Love, love, LOVE it!

10/10… abi 100/10? 😂🔥❤️

Either way, Nana wins Aunty Lulu’s Look of the Night! 🏆

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Erica Nlewedim in Rich Sleep NG

Give me a slip dress any day! 😍. There’s something about a slip dress that just speaks sultry confidence — sexy without trying too hard. And after everything we’ve seen so far, I’m happy to see yet another interesting interpretation of the theme.

Something different. Thank you! 👏🏾

And that feathered robe? The icing on the cake! It adds just the right amount of drama and gives the whole look that glamorous “rich bride lounging in her fabulous suite” energy. 😂. I love it!

But Erica, my darling… you’re losing marks for not steaming that dress! 😩. Come on, girl! After all this greatness, you cannot allow something that small to spoil a fabulous look. Details matter, especially on the red carpet.

And while we’re tidying things up, the tail of that ponytail should have stayed at the back. This is such a clean look; we don’t need anything distracting from that beautiful neckline and silhouette.

So close, baby girl! Do better next time. 😂❤️

Still a very interesting look and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

8.5/10. ✨

Mimi Yina in Medlin Boss

She’s a stylist — it would almost be an atrocity for her not to know how to interpret a theme as straightforward as this one! 😂. So, of course, Medlin Boss slayed.

I really like this look, and I especially love the styling. It’s fun, it’s flirty and it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Exactly the kind of energy I’ve been asking for all night!

Now, let’s lose the veil and have ourselves a party! 💃🏾😂 Without it, the look immediately moves away from “I’m the bride” and into that fabulous fashion space I love.

And can we please have a moment for that purse?! 😍😍😍. Now that is how you accessorise! It adds personality and gives the whole look that extra little fashion wink.

Fun, flirty and very well put together.

9/10 from me! ❤️✨

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Ariyike Owolagba (Ariyike Dimples) in Tabitha Woman

And last, but certainly not least, from my ladies is this fabulous pantsuit from Ariyike Dimples. 😍

Girl! What a clean civil-wedding look. 👏🏾

After all the gowns, lace, mermaid silhouettes and bridal drama we’ve seen, I really appreciate the simplicity and sharpness of this look. It’s chic, sophisticated and yet another reminder that Bridal Couture doesn’t have to mean a big white gown.

I really like it!

However, I wish she had brought a little more fun into the styling with a different choice of footwear. The shoes make the whole look feel a little too serious for me. Something more playful or unexpected would have given it that extra fashion edge.

Still, the suit itself? Very chic. Very clean. Very Ariyike.

A lovely way to round off the ladies.

8/10. ❤️✨

And Now… The Men! 🕺🏾

I’m tired o! 🙃😂

Who sent me work? At this point, reviewing red-carpet fashion is beginning to feel like a full-time job. 🤭

So, I’m going to touch on the men briefly — emphasis on briefly because Aunty Lulu needs to rest! 😂

But I couldn’t possibly finish this review without acknowledging them because, one thing about Nigerian men — they can DRESS! 🔥Our men have been steadily raising their fashion game and, quite frankly, they are beginning to give we ladies a serious run for our money.

The tailoring, the styling, the accessories, the confidence — these gentlemen are no longer content to just throw on a black tuxedo and stand beside the women looking fabulous. They want their own fashion moment too!

And you know what?

We are not complaining. 😉😍

So gentlemen, come forward. Aunty Lulu still has a tiny bit of strength left for you. 😂

Let’s see what you gave us…

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Lateef Adedimeji in Hushman Wears

Now, this is fun! 👏🏾 The play on colours keeps it fresh and stops it from feeling too groomy. Stylish, sharp and perfectly appropriate for the occasion.

9.5/10 🔥

A Wedding Story, A Fashion Story! 💍✨ The Best Looks from AMDWS’s Premiere

Akin Faminu in P.Aires

Akin is giving us vintage with an edge — cool, stylish and, most importantly, unpredictable. I like! 😍

By the way, I can’t wait to see the fashion from his upcoming wedding. He and his wife-to-be are such a fashion couple — especially him! 👀😂 Expectations are high, Akin!

9/10 🔥

Chimezie Imo in Splendour Official

One thing about Chimezie — he’s going to give you a clean, timeless look. It’s his way. Predictable? Yes. But when you consistently deliver this well, why change a winning formula? 😁

Sharp, polished and effortlessly dapper.

9.5/10 🔥

Samuel Banks in OJ Clothing

Samuel is fast becoming a fashion guy o! 👀🔥

I love this look — it’s giving playful groom, without taking itself too seriously. And the footwear? The perfect finishing touch! 👌🏾

Fun, stylish and very appropriate.

9/10 ❤️

Eronini Osinachim

Eronini is giving us dapper groom in yet another monochrome look from the guys. He genuinely looks ready to head straight to the altar! 😂

Very smart, very polished… but also quite expected.

8/10 🤵🏾‍♂️✨

Uncle… Over to You! 😂

Uncle, I don’t even know what to say anymore. I’m tired! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

It’s all a little too clean for me. We like a bit of roughness around the edges — a little edge, a little something something. Abi, is it just me? 👀

I’m sitting this one out.

I leave you guys to rate it. 😉

Rotimi Salami in Tal Arayce

Dapper, nice and clean. 👌🏾 Nothing too complicated — just a gentleman looking sharp and getting the job done.

8/10 ✨

Grand Prince Ita

Grand Prince Ita said, somebody has to officiate this wedding! 😂

He came as the priest, and I love it! Fun, clever and completely different. I just wish the trousers were about an inch longer.

Anyway… “You may now kiss the bride.” 😂💍

Stan Nze in Ben Fash

Someone please help me tell Stan that he too like shakara! 😂🔥

My best-dressed man of the night. Nicely tailored, fun and genuinely interesting. And that fabulous colour choice? Thank you for giving us a break from all the blacks and whites!

10/10! 🔥❤️

Kolapo Omotoso in Jeff Urban Clothing

Another guy who takes his looks seriously — Kola always looks good, and today is no exception.

He’s giving wealthy groomsman with deep pockets who came to mingle. 😂😉 You know the one — sharply dressed, smelling expensive and definitely not leaving the reception early!

I like it.

9/10 🔥

Michael Ejoor in Splendour Official

Another pop of blue, and we approve! 💙 A welcome break from the black-and-white brigade. 😂

Clean, dapper and nicely put together.

8/10 ✨

Joseph Onaolapo

Jay was one of the red-carpet hosts, and he gave us a classic Jay look.

Not much to say here, really. His fashion isn’t particularly on my radar, and this look hasn’t changed that. 😁

He looks good, he did the job, and we move.

7/10. ✨

And Finally… What’s a Wedding Without a Little Love? ❤️

What’s a wedding-themed red carpet without a few lovebirds? 😍

After all the lace, veils, mermaid gowns, civil wedding looks, dapper grooms, questionable headpieces and bouquets I desperately wanted people to toss 😂, I thought I’d leave you with a little dose of LOVE.

Because underneath all the couture and my plenty fashion opinions, you know Aunty Lulu is a hopeless romantic. ❤️. And with that, my work here is done!

My favourite lady of the night? Nana Akua Addo — she gave me the je ne sais quoi I had been searching for. 💃🏾🔥

And for the men, Stan Nze took it home for me. Colour, tailoring, personality and plenty shakara — exactly how I like my fashion! 😂👏🏾

But now it’s over to you. Who understood the assignment? Who should have stayed after class for extra lessons? 👀😂 And most importantly, who was your best dressed?

As for me, I’m off. This fashion blogging thing is a full-time job and Aunty Lulu needs to put her feet up! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Walks away whistling… 🎶“You could be my heaven, baby…” 🎶😉

Until the next red carpet gives me something worth talking about…

Stay fabulous, stay stylish, and remember — fashion should always be fun!

Love,
Aunty Lulu ❤️
